About Me
Like many musicians, I first started playing music as a 6th grader (2010) at Woodland Park Middle School in San Marcos, California. I quickly found out that I enjoyed playing trumpet, so I joined jazz band the following year. I attended high school (2013-2017) at San Marcos High School and did as many ensembles as I could there. That included playing in a wind band, a big band (jazz band), marching band, a brass quintet, and a Blast!-style ensemble that was known as “Axiom”. I also played in a couple different youth orchestras throughout high school (CYO and MMYO).
I was a music performance major for trumpet at the University of Arizona from 2017-2022, and while I was there, I did more of the same, but I also joined the school mariachi ensemble, which was my first experience playing that kind of music. Singing in a language that I didn’t speak was quite the trip.
After I was done with school, I started teaching brass instruments at a few schools in the San Diego area, which is why I started taking other brass instruments much more seriously. In 2023, I joined the Toy Soldier Unit that performs in the “A Christmas Fantasy” parade at Disneyland, so that takes up most of my time during the winter season. Currently, I’m the private trumpet instructor at Mission Hills High School - the rival high school to the one I graduated from - and I play in bands around the SD area.
